Week 16 NFL: Late Afternoon Games: Quick Picks!

All of the afternoon games this week in the NFL are expected to be close, so ignore the spread... we're betting on the moneyline to cash in.

Late Afternoon Games

Washington Football Team (+100) vs. Carolina Panthers (-120)... Spread: Panthers (-1)

The Football Team has everything to play for in this game, while the Panthers can't wait to end the season. At 4-10, the Panthers have been competitive all season, but don't have any shot of making the postseason. They have been without their star RB, Christian McCaffrey, pretty much all season and he won't suit up in this game as well. But, QB Teddy Bridgewater will need to play well the rest of the season if he wants to keep his starting job for next year.

This is the 'Ron Rivera Revenge' game. At QB, Alex Smith won't start in this game due to injury, so the Football Team will have to rely on notorious strip club 'goer,' Dwayne Haskins with their playoff hopes on the line. Also, they will be without their star WR Terry McLaurin, but they are expecting starting RB Antonio Gibson to play. The Football Team will once again rely on their strong defense to carry the to victory. Even though the Football Team are playing fo their playoff lives, I'm liking the Panthers to play spoilers in this spot.

Prediction: Panthers MONEYLINE (-120)

Los Angelas Chargers (-140) vs. Denver Broncos (+120)... Spread: Chargers (-2.5)

This is one of the few 'meaningless' games this week, but it's a divisional matchup so I expect both teams to play their hearts out. The Broncos have suffered from injuries all season long, yet they are still 5-9 on the year. But, they are coming off a massive loss to the Buffalo Bills in week 15 by a score of 48-19. RB Melvin Gordon had 2 TD's against the Bills and he will lead the backfield with RB Phillip Lindsay out this week.

QB Justin Herbert is sill playing for 'rookie of the year' status. He has been one of the few bright spots on this Chargers team and will look to carry them to victory once again. However, the injury bug has hit them now as they will be without WR Keenan Allen, TE Hunter Henry, and DE Joey Bosa. The Chargers will need people to step up if they want to win with these impact players out of the lineup. This game will probably be a shit show, but let's go with the Chargers led by a massive game from Herbert and Ekeler.

Prediction: Chargers MONEYLINE (-135)

Dallas Cowboys (+155) vs. Philadelphia Eagles (-175)... Spread: Eagles (-3)

This is a huge must win NFC East matchup for these 2 teams as they look to make a late push for a playoff spot and division title. However, this will be a season both team will want to forget. A silver lining for the Eagles is that they may have found their future QB, Jalen Hurts. The Eagles had a crushing defeat at the hands of the Arizona Cardinals in week 15, but Hurts managed to combine for 4 TD's on the day. His dual threat ability suits the 'current NFL' and he should have no problem carving up the Cowboys defense this week.

The Cowboys season was basically lost when QB Dak Prescott went down, but we shouldn't count out QB Andy Dalton just yet. He's been a viable starting option in the NFL over the course of his career, but he is very inconsistent. Also, despite dealing with an injury, RB Ezekiel Elliott will return to the lineup this week as he hopes to help with a late season playoff push. The Cowboys defense has been very suspect of late as they gave up 33 points to the San Fransisco 49ers in week 15, and I can't trust Dalton in crunch time. So, let's take the Eagles to roll into Dallas and get a huge win on the road.

Prediction: Eagles MONEYLINE (-155)

Seattle Seahawks (-120) vs. Los Angelas Rams (+100)... Spread: Seahawks (-1.5)

This might be the game of the week.... depending on which Rams team shows up. The Rams got embarrassed last week as they handed the New York Jets their first win of the season. They lost to the Jets 23-20 in a game where QB Jared Goff proved once again he's a very average QB. To make matters worse, their rookie RB Cam Akers is out of this game due to injury and that will be a big loss as Akers has become one of their most lethal playmakers out of the backfield. The Rams dominant defense will need to win them this one because Goff won't be able to match the output of the Seahawks offense if they have a big game.

The Seahawks are battling for top spot in the NFC and are looking for that bye in the first round of the playoffs. They are coming off of a hard fought win over the Washington Football Team in week 15 and QB Russell Wilson has realllllly cooled off since his hot start to the season. He will need to use his legs in this game as the Seahawks offensive line is lackluster and the Rams front 7 will create heavy pressure all game. The Seahawks will look to avenge their loss to the Rams earlier in the season and beat their division rivals this week. Despite the brutal loss last week, I am taking a shot at the Rams to bounce back in this game. Their defense will stifle Wilson and the Seahawks offense to allow Goff and the Rams offense to take advantage of a 'not-so-good' Seahawks defense. Hammer the underdogs.

Prediction: Rams MONEYLINE (+100)
