Week 10 NFL: Late Afternoon Games!
We have a busy schedule for NFL Sunday in the late afternoon games, so we're going to hit you with some quick picks this week... so try to keep up and hopefully cash in!
Late Afternoon Games
Arizona Cardinals (-160) vs. Buffalo Bills (+140)... Spread: Cardinals (-3)
The Cardinals were flying high until they met the Dolphins in week 9. They lost that game 34-31 to a stingy Dolphins defense, and the sudden emergence of rookie QB Tua Tagovailoa. As shown in recent weeks, the Cardinals defense is having difficulties without their top LB Chandler Jones and they face a tough offense this week against the Bills. Luckily for the Cardinals, QB Kyler Murray is continuing his stellar play, even in defeat. In week 9, he threw for 283 yards and 3 TD's and added 106 yards on the ground with 1 TD. He's slowly becoming the most dynamic QB in the NFL at just 23 years old. But, the 5-3 Cardinals are hoping to avoid going on a 2 game skid.
The Bills cooled off a bit with 2 close wins over the New York Jets and the New England Patriots. However, they got back to their early season form in week 9 with a huge 44-34 win over the Seattle Seahawks. QB Josh Allen will need to match the output of Murray in this one as he has a chance to prove that he's the most dynamic young QB in the game today. In week 9, Allen posted a whopping 415 passing yards with 3 TD's, and added 1 rushing TD as well. With that being said, I believe this game will be a shootout, and may come down to the last possession. Both of these defenses are allowing a lot of points this year, but I slightly trust the Bills D in this spot and I think the Bills can go into Arizona and cover... and maybe even pull off the mini upset.
Prediction: Bills +3 (-110)
Miami Dolphins (-140) vs. Los Angelas Chargers (+120) ... Spread: Dolphins (-2.5)
For the Dolphins, the Tua Tagovailoa era has begun. His second career start went way better than his first start as he took down the Arizona Cardinals on the road 34-31. In week 9, Tagovailoa had 248 passing yards with 2 TD's and added 35 rushing yards. Don't look now but, the Dolphins are 5-3 on the season and are trending in the right direction. Their defense has been dominant this year as their key acquisitions in the offseason are paying off as they had another defensive TD in week 9. If Tagovailoa can keep improving and the defense continues their stellar play, the sky is the limit for this Dolphins team this year and beyond.
On the other side of the field, another rookie QB, Justin Herbert, has been making strides as well this year. He was drafted one spot behind Tagovailoa in the 2020 NFL draft, so he has a little more added incentive in this game to prove himself. The Chargers top 2 WR targets, Keenan Allen and Mike Williams, need to come up big in this game against a tough Dolphins defense. The Chargers have shown flashes of a good football team, but they're only 2-6 on the season with a lot of close defeats and late game collapses. But, they will be without DE Joey Bosa in this game and I believe that alone could be the difference in what should be a close affair. Look for the Dolphins to stay hot and squeak out a close win at home.
Prediction: Dolphins -2.5 (-110)
Las Vegas Raiders (-170) vs. Denver Broncos (+150)... Spread: Raiders (-3)
The Raiders are 5-3 on the season and coming off a tough battle in week 9 where they outlasted the Los Angelas Chargers 31-26. Once again, the Raiders ground game was their strength as both RB's, Josh Jacobs and Devonte Booker, had 1 TD each and a total of 133 rushing yards. The passing game for the Raiders has been pretty stagnant the past few weeks, but they're still picking up wins which is obviously good sign. QB Derek Carr had another subpar outing in week 9 with only 165 passing yards on 13 completions. But, he managed to throw for 2 TD's, so the Raiders are managing to finish drives consistency. But, if the Raiders plan to make some noise in the postseason this year, Carr needs to step his game up.
The Broncos are 3-5 on the season despite their abundance of injuries on both sides of the ball. Their 2020 season may be a lost cause, but there are many positives for this Broncos squad and can be a serious threat when they're healthy. Their offense is currently led by QB Drew Lock, who has put up some impressive numbers the past 2 weeks and is trying to solidify his spot as the franchise QB going forward. The connection between him and rookie WR Jerry Jeudy has been evident as he had a massive game in week 9 with 125 receiving yards and 1 TD. But, the Broncos will need more production from their 2 headed monster in the backfield as RB's Melvin Gordon and Phillip Lindsay only totalled 41 rushing yards in week 9. This divisional matchup will be a hard fought game, but the Raiders are the better team at the moment and are fighting to get into the playoffs with a 5-3 record. Look for them to come out hard on their home field and cover the modest -3 spread.
Prediction: Raiders -3 (-115)
Los Angelas Rams (-150) vs. Seattle Seahawks (+130)... Spread: Rams (-2.5)
The 5-3 Rams are currently sitting in 3rd in the NFC West, which is arguably the toughest division in football that includes the Seattle Seahawks, Arizona Cardinals, and San Fransisco 49ers. They are coming off a bye week and have a huge opportunity to gain ground on the Seahawks at home here in week 10. The Rams are led by QB Jared Goff who is struggling to put up QB1 numbers this year. But, they are hoping the bye week will help the young QB can take advantage of a hobbled Seahawks defense that just got torched by the Bills with 44 points against. The strength of this Rams squad is on the defensive side of the ball with Aaron Donald. He has 9 sacks on the season, which is tied for 1st in the NFL alongside Myles Garrett. Look for him, and the front 7 of the Rams to disrupt Wilson all game and force him out of the pocket consistently.
The Seahawks are 1-2 in their last 3 games after starting the season 5-0. QB Russell Wilson is putting up MVP numbers this season, but their protection has been lackluster as Wilson has coughed up 5 INT's in the past 3 games. To make matters worse, the Seahawks defense has been terrible this year due to a mix of injures and poor play. In 2020, they are averaging 30 points against, which is not acceptable for a team that is aiming to contend for the Super Bowl. Also, the Seahawks will be without their top 2 RB's this week as Chris Carson and Carlos Hyde are out due to injuries. With that being said, in this game I like the Rams to come off the bye week and take it to this Seahawks team that can't keep offenses off the scoreboard. Let's go with the Rams to win this huge divisional matchup in what should be a back and forth game.
Prediction: Rams -2.5 (-120)
Pittsburgh Steelers (-300) vs. Cincinnati Bengals (+250)... Spread: Steelers (-6.5)
The Steelers are 8-0 this season and are coming off a scare against the Dallas Cowboys in week 9. They were able to come out of Dallas with a close 24-19 win over the struggling Cowboys. The Steelers showed a lot of heart in that game as they scored 15 unanswered points in the 4th quarter on route to a comeback victory. Now, they face their division rivals and are looking to stay undefeated. The Steelers have an explosive offense, but their defense has picked up where they left off last year and have been a dominant force against opposing offenses. They are tied for 1st in the league for INT's, and also lead the league in sacks with an average of 4 per game.
The Bengals are no joke anymore. They made a statement in week 9 with an impressive win over the Tennessee Titans 31-20. The 2020 1st overall pick, Joe Burrow, is finding success in his young career despite having limited weapons at WR. In week 9, Burrow threw for 249 yards and 2 TD's, but most importantly, he threw 0 INT's. Limiting turnovers will be massive in this game against the Steelers as their defense is well-rounded and have forced a lot of turnovers thus far in 2020. Also, the Bengals will be without their star RB Joe Mixon in this game, so they will rely on veteran RB Giovanni Bernard to be the workhorse in the backfield. The Bengals are heavily outmatched in this game and it'll be up to their defense to keep it close. This game has a wide spread at -6.5, but I will lay the points here with the Steelers as they are at home and one of the best teams in the NFL.
Prediction: Steelers -6.5 (-115)
New Orleans Saints (-420) vs. San Fransisco 49ers (+310)... Spread: Saints (-9.5)
The 49ers have arguably been the most disappointing team this season. They are sitting on a 4-5 record in 2020 and things are trending downward. They have been decimated by injuries all year on both sides of the ball and it's actually quite impressive that they are almost a .500 team. On offense alone, they will be without Jimmy Garoppolo, Raheem Mostert, Kittle and a number of WR's in this game. So, they will be led by QB Nick Mullens this week who has looked ok in relief of Garoppolo when you consider the limited options he has on the outside, and in the backfield. The 49ers are heavy underdogs in this game and I cannot see them winning unless the Saints have a massive collapse.
The Saints may be the hottest team in football at the moment as they are coming off a dominating win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in week 9. After starting the season 1-2, the Saints are riding a 5 game winning streak and are sitting on top of the NFC South. In week 9, they dominated the Bucs 38-3 on the road in what was a 'statement' game against their division rivals. The return of WR Micheal Thomas is a huge boost to this potent Saints offense who will be looking to take advantage of a severely hobbled 49ers defense. I think we all know the Saints will win this game... but, by how much? I'm willing to take the Saints at their massive -10 spread because they are playing at home in the dome. Look for them to dominate on both sides of the ball and route to a blowout win against the 49ers.
Prediction: Saints -9.5 (-105)
