Washington Capitals vs. Philadelphia Flyers Odds, Predictions and Picks!

Odds

Preview

This round-robin matchup features 2 division rivals battling for playoff ranking. The Caps dropped their first game to the Tampa Bay Lightning in a close 3-2 shootout loss. The Caps seemed to come out slow in that game but started to find their legs midway through. The Caps were without John Carlson in their first-round robin game, and he is still day-to-day with an injury. Also, the Caps will be without Lars Eller for an extended period of time as he has left the bubble for the birth of his child. Despite these losses, the Caps are always dangerous with Ovi in the lineup. Their top 6 is loaded with talent and speed, and they will look to play physical against this young Flyers squad.

The Flyers played the Boston Bruins in their first game and won convincingly 4-1. The Bruins have come out really flat in this round-robin by dropping 2 games already. So, I don't know what to make of the Flyers yet as they are set to play a Caps team hungry for their first win. They are anchored by young star Carter Hart in the net. He was put to work in the first game as he stopped 34 out of 35 shots against the Bruins. The Flyers will need to be disciplined in this game to avoid the top powerplay unit of the Caps. However, their powerplay unit didn't look the same without Carlson, and his status in this game is crucial to the Caps lineup.

Prediction

The Caps finished off really strong against the lightning and I think it will carry over in this divisional matchup. This game is a 'pick-em' at -115 and I expect it to be a close one with every inch of the ice being contested. I look for the big guns on the Caps to step up in this game and overwhelm the Flyers defense with a hard forecheck. Look for Ovi to announce his arrival in the playoffs in this game with a big performance.

Picks

If John Carlson doesn't play take the Capitals Moneyline at -115, and if he does play in this one SMASH the Capitals Moneyline
