UFC Fight Night Main Event Preview, Odds and Prediction!

Will we see another big knockout from Pedro ? Or will the legend Frankie Edgar be an emerging contender at Bantamweight with a huge win? Is this the worst fight card in UFC history? Ya probably. This card has been decimated due to injuries and COVID, so the Main Event is really the only fight people need to pay attention to.

Bantamweight Matchup (135) Frankie Edgar (22-8-1) vs. Pedro Munhoz (18-4-0,1 NC)

Simply put, Edgar is a UFC legend and the former UFC Lightweight Champion. But, we have to put all of his previous success aside for this fight because he's not the same fighter. Edgar has also fought at Featherweight, and this will be the first Bantamweight matchup of his career. At 38 years old, he is looking to make one more run for the title against guys his own size. He's been fighting in divisions where he's mainly been the smaller guy standing at 5'6. He will have a 3.5 inch reach advantage in this fight against Munhoz. Edgar is coming off a brutal KO loss to the Korean Zombie and has lost 2 straight. This move to Bantamweight at this point of this career seems like a desperation move. I would have liked to see him make this move at a younger age because I feel like he could have been a serious threat in the Bantamweight division. Edgar is known to have a great chin and has been in wars in the UFC, but 2 out of his 3 previous losses have come by KO/TKO. Edgar will look to avoid getting into a firefight in this bout and look to outpoint his opponent to get the decision win.

On the other side of the octagon is Munhoz. He's coming off a decision loss to Aljamain Sterling, but he managed to stuff all of his takedowns in that fight. This gives me a lot of confidence in Munhoz going into this fight against Edgar's double leg takedowns. He is 3-1 in his last 4 fights, which includes a huge KO win over Cody Garbrandt. Munhoz is currently ranked 5th in the Bantamweight division and looking to climb the ranks to a title shot. This will be a 5 round fight, so it will get interesting if this fight makes it past 3 rounds with Edgar's championship experience. Munhoz has only gone to decision in 28% of his fights, and has a finishing rate of 72%. For me, this fight comes down to age and durability. I wonder how the weight cut will affect Frankie in this one, which makes me worried about his chin holding up in this fight. I believe that Munhoz will clip Edgar at some point in the fight and finish him with either ground and pound or a submission. Take your pick with the KO/TKO or Submission prop.

Prediction: Munhoz (-300)

Bulldogs Risky Bet: Munhoz by KO/TKO (+120)
