UFC Fighter Rakic loves to kill Lions

UFC Vegas 8 features plenty of great fights, especially for a free fight card. The main event is between Anthony 'Lionheart' Smith and Alexsander Rakić. But, you are not going to want to miss the co-main event either.

Light Heavyweight Matchup (205): Alexsander Rakić (12-2-0) vs. Anthony Smith (32-15-0)

Rakić may be the next big thing in the Light Heavyweight division. At 28 years old, he is an elite striker with 9 knockouts in his 12 victories. Rakić is a big man standing 6'4 with a 78 in reach. He is coming off a split decision loss to Volkan Oezdemir, which some people thought that Rakić did enough to get the win. He will be looking to rebound in a big way against a former title contender in Smith. However, in Smith's last fight, he was beat to a pulp by a 40 year old Glover Teixeira. The turnaround for Smith is a bit surprising considering that tough prolonged beating in May 2020, but he is looking to regain his form that took him to a title shot against Jon Jones in March 2019. Just when you think 'Lionheart' is down and out, he somehow manages to pull off big wins. He has notable wins over top competition that includes Alexander Gustafsson, Volkan Oezdemir, Maurício Rua and Rashad Evans. The stats suggest that this fight will not go the distance. Only 6% of Smith's fights have gone to decision, while Rakić's fights have gone to decision 17% of the time. So, let's go with a decision my for risky pick because this fight is only a 3 round main event. But, I would love to see another highlight KO by Rakić.

Bulldogs Prediction: Rakic (-260)

Bulldogs Risky Bet: Rakic by Decision (+200)

Welterweight Matchup (170): Robbie Lawler (28-14-0, 1NC) vs. Neil Magny (23-8-0)

This co-main event is a battle between 2 UFC vets looking to climb the ranks once again. Lawler is coming off a decision loss to Colby Covington in August 2019. He is without a doubt a KO artist as 71% of his wins have come by KO/TKO. However, at 38 years old, he is on a 3 fight losing streak and appears to be on a decline in his career. Also, something to consider is that this is a bit of a short notice fight for Lawler, so hopefully, he's spent his year off training and keeping in shape. He will be fighting Magny Saturday night. Magny is on a 2 fight win streak with wins over Li Jingliang and Anthony Rocco Martin. He will be looking to make a big statement by getting a big win over a former UFC Welterweight champion. Also, Magny will have a 6inch reach advantage in this fight. I also believe that Magny will have better cardio and a much better gas tank in this fight. As much as I like Lawler and his fighting style, I see Magny overwhelming Lawler with volume strikes and wresting to pick up the decision win.

Bulldogs Prediction: Magny (-250)

Bulldogs Risky Bet: Magny by Decision (-140)
