Sunday Night Football: Washington Football Team @ Philadelphia Eagles

The 6-9 Washington Football Team is set to travel to Philadelphia for a prime time divisional game vs Eagles on Sunday night. The Eagles have already been eliminated from playoff contention, but Washington on the other hand still controls their own playoff destiny. With a win over the eagles the Football can secure the division crown and a spot in the playoffs. Now that I have set the stage for what should be an exciting game to close out the NFL regular season, lets get to my picks and predictions for the game.

Football Team

The Washington Football Team still has a shot at being apart of the 2021 NFL playoffs, as they are set up for a win and you are in situation vs the

Eagles. Washington has listed Terry McLaurin, Alex Smith, and Antonio Gibson as questionable for the game, so pay close attention to the statuses of these three difference-makers for Washington's offence. If all 3 are healthy, expect for them to perform well and take advantage of the injury-riddled Eagles defence. No matter who is healthy expect Washington to come out and give everything to win this football game. But like it wouldn’t be the worst if Football Team Owner Dan Snyders wasn’t apart of the playoffs.

The Eagles were eliminated from playoff contention after a loss in week 16, but if you think that they are going to gift Washington (a divisional rival) a free win to help them with their spot in the playoffs, you are mistaken. Rookie quarterback Jalen Hurts will want to continue to prove that he deserves to start for the Eagles, and coach Doug Peterson will want to win to finish off the year on a positive note, and to help ensure he keeps his job going into next season. Also, no game in the NFL is a free win, and this is especially true with divisional games, so I expect the Eagles to keep this game competitive with Washington. The Eagles will be missing a ton of key players who are out with injury, such as Fletcher Cox, Derek Barnett, Dallas Goedert, Miles Sanders, and DeSean Jackson. Expect this to have a substantial impact on the outlook of the game, and hope that other players on the Eagles look to step up to make this a competitive football game. The Eagles really do have nothing to lose and have the opportunity to get a fifth win on the season, which is exactly what they will be trying to do on this Sunday night.

It is no secret that I slightly favour Washington in this game. They are more healthy, have an extremely strong defence, and are likely extremely motivated to make the playoffs. Despite this, things change if the playmakers that are currently questionable on Washington's offence (Smith, McLaurin, Gibson) are not ready to suit-up for the game. If Alex Smith does not start the game, I believe that this will open the door for the Eagles to win a low-scoring game. Assuming that he does start like he is expected to, I think that this opens up the game for more scoring as both offences should be able to find the endzone. Both offences should be taking chances, so hope for a game where everyone to be healthy because it should end up being an exciting and entertaining game to end the 2020 regular season.
