Raiders vs Chargers Thursday Night Football Odds, Preview and Pick!
Two teams battling it out on Thursday night both from the best division in football the AFC West... that doesn't sound right. Ok, maybe it's just the division that has the best team in football in the Kansas City Chiefs but, hey let's be nice to both these teams as they have to play the Patrick Mahomes twice a year for the next 10 plus years.
Los Angeles Chargers at Las Vegas Raiders
Everyone has started to talk about the coach of the year award as the season comes to a close and while Anthony Lynn is not in that conversation he may be a shoo-in for the worst coach of the year award. Anthony Lynn incompetency aside the Chargers are a very talented team on both sides of the ball but sit at 4 and 9 on the season. The big question mark in this game is Keenan Allen as Mike Williams will most likely be ruled out and if Allen doesn't play either, Austin Ekler might be targeted 400 times tonight.
The Raiders have allowed the most points by an NFL team that has a record above .500, so I guess it makes sense why they fired their defensive coordinator after their game last week. To make things worse for this historically bad defense Safety Johnathan Abram, cornerback Damon Arnette, edge defender Clelin Ferrell, and linebacker Nicholas Morrow have all been ruled out. Raiders will also be without rookie WR Henry Ruggs on offense, so the sure-handed Nelson Agholor will have to step up as the lone deep threat tonight.
For how bad the Raiders' defense has been it has been might actually be worse tonight as the players missing are at positions where the defense has already been very below average. So unless Jeff Heath takes some steroids before the game Justin Herbert might throw the ball wherever he wants on the field tonight. A major game-changer will be if Keenan Allen plays or not as he is a significant part of the passing attack, as he commands 10 plus targets most games. Assuming Allen does play, the Chargers' offense might be too much for the Raiders to keep up with. Herbert will have all time to throw and the Chargers defense is good enough against TEs to slow down Darren Waller. Take the Chargers and the Points.
