NFL Sunday Night Football: Kansas City Chiefs vs. Denver Broncos Preview, Odds, and Prediction
The 10-1 Kansas City Chiefs are set to face the 4-7 Denver Broncos on Sunday Night. It will be a battle between 2 young QB as Drew Lock is prepared to face the daunting task of matching the output of Mahomes and the Chiefs offense.
Kansas City Chiefs (-1000) vs. Denver Broncos (+600)... Spread: Chiefs (-13.5)
Normally when we have a divisional matchup, we expect it to be a close contested game. However, this game between the Chiefs and the Broncos could get ugly. The Chiefs have been on a tear of late and the Broncos have had a rocky up-and-down season. They got screwed by the NFL in week 12 because they were forced to play Kendall Hinton as their starting QB on just 1 day notice after every QB on the roster was deemed unfit to compete. The NFL didn't push the game back to give the players a chance to play, which left everyone confused as to why the Baltimore 'fraud' Ravens were able to push their game back multiple times. As a result, the Broncos lost 31-3 to the New Orleans Saints in a game where they got dominated on the ground. Also, they only completed 1 pass throughout the whole game and totalled a whopping 13 yards through the air. Fortunately, they will get their starting QB Drew Lock back this week, but it likely won't be enough for this injury riddled Broncos squad on both sides of the ball. While they are familiar with Mahomes and the Chiefs offense because they're in the same division, this may turn into a similar result earlier in the season where the Chiefs beat the Broncos 43-16. Lock and the Broncos defense will need to play out of their mind Sunday night if they have any chance to upset the defending Super Bowl champs.
The Chiefs are rolling and looking to catch the undefeated Pittsburgh Steelers to claim 1st place in the AFC. They are currently riding a 6 game winning streak, which is led by the play of QB Patrick Mahomes. In week 12, the Chiefs had a tough test against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, but came out on top with a 27-24 win. WR Tyreek Hill had a dominating performance by posting 269 receiving yards and 3 TD's on 13 receptions. Game planning for this Chiefs offense is nearly impossible when you consider the amount of weapons they have, and the fact that any one of them could break out at any given time. Mahomes had another huge game as well as he put up 3 TD's and 462 passing yards on a good defense. He's now the frontrunner for the MVP this season and he will likely continue to put up big numbers on this struggling Broncos defense. The Chiefs are heavily favoured in this game by -13.5 points, and I believe they will destroy this Broncos team Sunday night at home. A healthy Broncos squad would maybe give them a tougher challenge, but I don't see anyway the Broncos can keep this one close unless the Chiefs offense is really off their game. Hammer the Chiefs at -13.5 and pray that you aren't facing anyone on this Chiefs offense in fantasy football this week.
Prediction: Chiefs -13.5 (-105)
