NFL Sunday Night Football: Green Bay Packers vs. Chicago Bears Preview, Odds, and Prediction
We have a key NFC North matchup Sunday night with familiar foes, the Green Bay Packers and the Chicago Bears set to face off. Let's preview what to expect Sunday night...
Green Bay Packers (-380) vs. Chicago Bears (+290)... Spread: Packers (-8)
The Packers have had a pretty up and down season so far in 2020 and their week 11 performance was an overtime loss 34-31 to the Indianapolis Colts. They blew a 28-14 lead at half and now they're sitting at 7-3 on the year and in 1st place in the NFC North. Their opponents in this game, the Bears, are in 2nd place, so the Packers can pretty much solidify themselves as the top seed with a win this week. QB Aaron Rodgers has been solid this season and is coming off of a 3 TD performance with 311 yards passing. Him and WR Davante Adams may be the best QB-WR duo in the league as Adams had another impressive outing in week 11 with 106 yards receIving and 1 TD. At the RB position, we should expect another big game for Aaron Jones as he's been a workhorse and TD machine in the backfield. The Packers have a legitimate shot at the Super Bowl this year, but the play of their defense will be the 'x-factor' for their success. They will have a chance to come up big in this game as they're set to face a struggling offense with a QB who hasn't played in a while.
The Bears are fighting for their playoff lives from here on out as they are 5-5 on the season. But now they will have to rely on QB Mitch Trubisky to bring them back. The Bears are coming off of a much needed bye week on Sunday night and got some much needed rest. Before the bye week, they came off another NFC North showdown against the Minnesota Vikings in week 10 where they lost 19-13. The QB position for the Bears this season has been a revolving door and now with the injury to Foles, Trubisky has yet another chance to prove he's a starting NFL QB. Foles hasn't had much success as the starter for the Bears, so Trubisky can takeover the starting position with a solid performance on the big stage Sunday night. But, he will need help from the RB's in this game because their running game was non existent without David Montgomery. But, Montgomery is cleared from concussion protocol and slated to play in this game, and this is great news for the Bears offense who won't have to rely on a Cordarrelle Patterson jet sweep for their running attack. As always, the Bears solid defensive play has kept them in games all season, and I expect them to come out even harder against their division rivals. With that being said, I like the Bears to cover the massive +8 spread after their bye week. Trubisky will be determined in this game and the Bears defense should keep it relatively close. Let's hammer the Bears and the points in this one that could be a low scoring affair.
Prediction: Bears +8 (-115)
