NFL Monday Night Football: Tampa Bay Buccaneers vs. New York Giants Preview, Odds, and Prediction
We have a highly anticipated matchup Monday night between the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the New York Giants. Tom Brady historically has had a rough go against the Giants, but will his luck turn in a Bucs uniform? Ya probably.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers (-700) vs. New York Giants (+450)... Spread: Bucs (-13)
After a rocky start to the season, the Bucs are seemingly starting to click on offense and defense. They are coming off 2 dominating performances over the Green Bay Packers and the Las Vegas Raiders. Now with Antonio Brown waiting to suit up in week 9, the Bucs offense will only get tougher to gameplan against as he will be alongside Mike Evans and Chris Godwin. In week 7, they dismantled the Raiders 45-20 with an impressive outing by Brady who threw for 4 TD's and 369 passing yards. He's finding chemistry again with TE Rob Gronkowski as the big receiving target has come on in the past 2 games with 2 TD's and 140 total receiving yards. But, this week they will be without one of their top receiving threats, WR Chris Godwin, due to injury. Godwin is a major loss to this offense, but the Bucs have enough weapons to still pick apart the Giants defense. So, WR Mike Evans will be relied on heavily in this game as Brady's top option on the outside. The Bucs defense has also been impressive and are led by their LB's Devin White and Shaquil Barrett who are poised to have another big game this week.
The Giants are coming off a heartbreaking loss to the Eagles where they were in control in the 4th quarter until they allowed a late touchdown to lose the game. They are now 1-6 on the season and are desperate to find a spark to rejoin the hunt in the dreadful NFC East division. However, last week, the Giants offense had a bit of a spark with the return of WR Sterling Shepard who had 59 receiving yards with 1 TD. Unfortunately, their staring RB Devonta Freeman suffered a minor injury last week and is unable to suit up for this Monday night matchup. So, the Giants will rely of RB's Wayne Gallman and Dion Lewis to carry the workload in the backfield and give QB Daniel Jones some much needed assistance. Also, TE Evan Engram has shown flashes of brilliance on the field in his career, but he's struggling to find the endzone this year so far. Jones will need to get Engram going this week if they want to keep pace with Brady and the Bucs offense. On defense, I'm not sure if they'll have any shot of containing this Bucs offense because there are too many weapons in every position. If they can't stop them in the redzone and limit them to field goals, it's going to be a long night for this Giants squad. With that being said, sadly, losing by 13 or less is a win for the Giants this week, but I don't think they'll even be able to do that. Brady and the Bus are rolling at the moment and there is no way this Giants team will be the ones that slows them down. Let's take the Bucs and the 'plus' money to cover the massive -13 spread in a Monday night snoozefest.
Prediction: Bucs -13 (+100)
