NFL Monday Night Football: New Orleans Saints vs. Las Vegas Raiders Preview, Odds, and Prediction!
It's Monday Night Football and I pray your fantasy teams are doing alright after tons of injuries this past weekend. Fantasy football aside, we have a matchup between two 1-0 teams looking to stay undefeated!
(Will we see some Gruden magic Monday night?)
New Orleans Saints (-225) vs. Las Vegas Raiders (+185)... Spread: Saints (-4.5)
The Raiders managed to get by the Carolina Panthers in week 1 with a 34-30 win. They were lead by RB Josh Jacobs who posted a 3 touchdown game with 93 yards on 25 carries. Even though he carried them to victory in week 1, this game will come down to the play of QB Derek Carr. We know that Drew Brees and the Saints will put up points, so it's up to Carr to match him and put up better numbers than his 239 passing yards and 1 touchdown performance in week 1 against a below average Panthers defense. This will be even tougher to do with OT Trent Brown and Sam Young listed as doubtful for this game. The Raiders will need to adjust to fill that void at Right Tackle, and I know the Saints front 7 will be licking their chops to get after Carr with a depleted offensive line. The Saints defense got off to a shaky start against Tom Brady and the Bucs in week 1, but they still managed to dominate as they got 2 interceptions on Brady. I expect this trend to continue facing a Raiders team with less offensive weapons than the Bucs. But, the Saints will have to look out for Raiders rookie WR Henry Ruggs III because he is a speedy receiver that will pose matchup problems for the Saints as a deep threat. Also, the Saints will be without their all-star WR Micheal Thomas in this game due to an ankle injury. So old man Emmanuel Sanders will look to fill that void in the passing game. Also, with Thomas out, look for the Saints to use Alvin Kamara often in the run game and the passing game in this one. They paid Kamara a boat load of money with 5 year 75 million dollar contract and look for him to show his worth tonight. Even with Thomas out, the Saints are a better team all around and shouldn't have too many issues getting past the Raiders. Let's take the Saints spread at -4.5 to close out Week 2 in the NFL.
Prediction: Saints Spread (-105)
