NFL Monday Night Football: Dallas Cowboys vs. Arizona Cardinals Preview, Odds, and Prediction

The second Monday night game is a showdown between 2 NFC teams looking to inch one step closer to a playoff spot. The Dallas Cowboys will be taking on the Arizona Cardinals in an important NFL matchup.

Monday Night Football

Dallas Cowboys (-120) vs. Arizona Cardinals (+100)... Spread: Cowboys (-1)

It's now officially the post 'Dak Prescott' era for the Cowboys in 2020. As everyone saw, Prescott went down last week with a brutal ankle injury that will keep him on the sidelines indefinitely. So now, the Cowboys have to rely on the 'Red Rifle,' Andy Dalton, to quarterback the offense for the rest of the year. He came in relief in week 5 and threw for 111 yards and went 9/11 on his completions, which isn't too bad considering he had to come in mid-game. Now, he's had a full week to prepare for his first start of 2020. Luckily for Dalton, he's stepping into one of the best offenses in the NFL and will have lots of weapons at his disposal. On the outside, he will have 3 solid options with WR's Amari Cooper, CeeDee Lamb, and Micheal Gallup. Also, if Dalton isn't feeling too confident in his throwing ability tonight, he can always hand the ball off to all-star RB Ezekiel Elliott. However, with Prescott out, there will be more pressure on the defense to perform. The Cowboys defense has looked shaky all season and allowed 34 points to a struggling New York Giants offense in week 5. However, they will get a key player back tonight as LB Leighton Vander Esch is set to return from injury. They are hoping he's the spark they need to get this defense back in order because if they don't, they will get lit up once again this week.

The Cardinals had a scorching start to the year, but find themselves at 3-2 and looking to avoid going to .500 on the season. QB Kyler Murray will be licking his chops tonight as he's set to face a Cowboys defense that has allowed on average a whopping 36 points per game. The Cardinals are coming off a convincing 30-10 win over the New York Jets in week 5, but at this point anyone can beat the Jets. The Cardinals have one of the deepest receiving cores in the league, and there will be plenty of opportunities to expose this horrid Cowboys defense. Look for Murray to spread the ball around all night to WR's DeAndre Hopkins, Christian Kirk, Larry Fitzgerald, etc. Also, they have an emerging duo threat at RB with Kenyan Drake and Chase Edmonds both playing well and causing trouble for opposing defenses. If the Cardinals can limit the turnovers and are careful with the ball, they should be able to go into Dallas and escape with a huge victory. Even though Dalton is a veteran in the NFL and fully capable of handling a starting role, I don't like that the Cowboys are only 2-3 with Prescott putting up ridiculous numbers. I think this game will be a shootout, and I trust Murray way more than Dalton in this spot. The Cardinals are underdogs in this game, and I think it's worth a shot to take them straight up. I can see this game coming down to the wire, but let's go with the Murray and the Cardinals to come through in crunch time.

Prediction: Cardinals Moneyline (+100)
