New York Islanders vs Florida Panthers Odds, Prediction, and picks!
Kill the cats
The Islanders can close out the series with a win today and send the Panthers home. The Islanders are a strong defensive team with limited scoring but when you only allow 3 goals in 2 games you don't need to score too much to win. Eberle coming alive is a scary thing for the Panthers as it brings back memories of all his clutch World Junior's goals when he carried Canada to gold. A hot Eberle and continued great goaltending from Varlamov could lead to the Isles getting the sweep today.
Hopefully one of those 9 lives kick in
Offensive firepower....was supposed to be what the Florida Panthers were known for, but after two games and only 3 goals for it has been non-existent. Add in that Bobrovsky has continued to look like a very below average goalie this year that gets paid 10 million per year, the Panthers are on the brink of elimination today. Barkov or Huberdeau must take over the game for the Panthers to have a chance and you know stay out the penalty box so your below-average penalty kill can stay off the ice (two powerplay goals against in game 2).
The Panthers offense has been asleep for most of this series but did start to show some signs of life in game two with both Barkov and Hoffman scoring. Barzal on the other for the Islanders has just one assist and one injury scare through two games, his limited production has not hurt the Isles yet but they can only win for so long without him creating more offense. If Bobrovsky shows up at all in this game the Panthers keep the series alive for at least one more game.
Take the underdog Panther Moneyline(+110)
