NBA Quick Picks!

here is a great night of basketball ahead of us lets see if we can make some Ka$h!

Los Angles Lakers vs. San Antonio Spurs

If you thought the Lakers were going to dominate every team on their schedule, the loss to the Blazers should have given you a sign that this team is as dominant as you think. Even with the Lakers having an almost full lineup they were not efficient at all:

  • Lakers

  • Kyle Kuzma (minus-23)

  • Montrez Harrel (minus-20)

  • Blazers

  • Gary Trent Jr. (plus+15)

  • Enes Kanter (plus+13)

Alex Curos looks like he will miss a second consecutive game for COVID-19 protocols and I believe that him being out mattered against Portland and will largely impact tonight's game as well. Caruso was second on last year’s squad with a plus+2.4 Defensive Plus-Minus, according to Basketball Reference. The Lakers are also already using a tight eight to nine-man lineup.

The Spurs suffered their first loss of the season Sunday 95-98 against the Pelicans. The Spurs are 3-0 ATS as underdogs but this is their toughest opponent yet. The spurs have featured a well-balanced offence with Derozan at the helm averaging 21points and dishing 9 assists per game. This team is also playing a tight eight-man roster but they are seeing good production from one of their young stars, Keldon Johnson. Johnson was picked 29th overall by the Spurs last year via the Raptors trade which sent Kawhi over to Toronto. Johnson has proved to be someone Popovich can rely on. I expect this game to be hard-fought and tight till the end where one team will separate themselves.

I believe that the Spurs have enough personnel on the team to tire out a Lakers team that needs to improve on managing its minutes.

  • Spurs (+5.5)

Brooklyn Nets vs Atlanta Hawks

the Hawks have won their first three games of the season and look to continues their success against the now fully-loaded Brooklyn Nets. Atlanta's last game in a victory against the Pistons were led by Trae Young with 29 points and 6 assists and Four of the five starters scored in double-digits and eight of 10 who played in the game had at least 11 points. This team has exciting new energy around it with a mix of young stars and veterans. Trae Young is a generational talent, he is doing remarkable things on the court, the league and fans are just starting to notice, get ready to see him on primetime most nights.

I am sorry to any Atlanta fans who believe their team can win this game. The Nets are coming off a hard-fought 116-111 loss in overtime against the Grizzlies. The Nets have dropped their second straight game after starting 2-0. One thing changes in this game that makes a drastic difference. Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant are playing. They are a dominant team when the two stars play and all the scoring we have seen from them without those two only helps. Nets have players like Caris LeVert who had 28 points last game, and Timothe Luwawu-Cabarrot with 21 against the grizzlies who will overwhelm opposing teams' second units. This team with everyone playing is dangerous. Spencer Dinwiddle partially tore his ACL against the Grizzlies and will likely be out for the season.

Take the Nets to cover the points.

  • Nets (-6)

Charlotte Hornets vs. Dallas Mavericks

Charlotte coming into the season was expected to be one of the NBA's worst teams, and at 1-2 they are by their point differential in both losses combined are 9 points! They are playing their games hard and that all you can ask for. On Sunday they shocked the Brooklyn Nets and pulled off the upset and winning 106-104. A little side victory was this nasty poster on KD by Scary Terry.

The Hornets are getting great production from their leaders in Gordan Hayward and Terry Rozier. Hayward is averaging 22.7 points and 7 assists while shooting 54.9% from the field. Terry Rozier is averaging 26.7 points with an efficient 51.9% from the field.

The Mavericks are coming off of one of a dominant performance against the Clippers, winning by a staggering 51 POINTS! The Mavericks have struggled this season with finding other people to support Luka Doncic and help lessen the load. The team is again without All-Star Kristaps Porzingis due to offseason knee surgery. Porzingis is expected to play "within the next two weeks". I feel this team needs him and Luka cant do everything by himself.

Last season Dallas and Charlotte split the season series, 1-1, with the road team winning both times. In fact, the road team has won eight of the past 10 in the series and the Hornets are an astounding 8-0-1 against the spread in their past nine as underdogs.

  • Hornets (+8)
