Derrick Lewis likes to spit on his steak....
UFC Vegas 6 isn't the cream of the crop, but we should have a solid Co-Main Event and Main Event Saturday night.
Heavyweight Matchup- Derrick Lewis (23-7-0, 1 NC) vs. Aleksei Oleinik (59-13-1)
Derrick 'The Black Beast' Lewis is must see TV. I solely want him to win just to see his interview after the fight. He's coming off an unanimous decision win over lir Latifi and he is looking to climb the Heavyweight ladder once again. He packs a lot of power in his hands and is always dangerous at any point in the fight (ask Alexander Volkov). Also, Lewis will have a 38 pound weight advantage in this fight! Look for him to absolutely blast old man Aleksei 'Ezekiel Choke' Oleinik out of the Octagon.
Prediction: Lewis (-200)
Bulldogs Risky Bet: Lewis by KO/TKO (-130)
Middleweight Matchup (185): Chris Weidman (14-5-0) vs. Omari Akhmedov (20-4-1)
What happened to the former champ? Weidman is 1-5 in his last 6 fights!! And all of those losses have come by KO/TKO. However, those losses came to top fighters that include Dominick Reyes, Ronaldo Souza, Gegard Mousasi, Yoel Romero and Luke Rockhold. His recent experiment at Light Heavyweight was short-lived as he got KO'd in his last fight against Dominick Reyes. So, Weidman is making the move back down to Middleweight in an attempt to save his career. If he loses in this one by KO/TKO, it may be time to hang it up. He will have a 5 inch reach advantage against Akhmedov. If Weidman plays this safe, he should be able to use his reach to stay to the outside and pick up the win, or even sink in a late submission.
Akhmedov on the other hand is facing a big step-up in competition. He is riding a 3 fight win streak with wins against Ian Heinisch, Zak Cummings and Tim Boetsch. But, he is known to have gas tank issues because he is built like a brick shithouse. I believe his main path to victory in this one is a KO/TKO because it seems like anyone in this world can knockout Weidman at this point in his career. I'm going to assume Weidman will try to make this a boring fight and scrape out the decision victory, either that or he's getting put to sleep again.
Prediction: Weidman (-155)
Bulldogs Risky Bet: Weidman by Decision (+150)
